Medical State of Mind: A Rookie Cut →
medicalstate: Over the past year, I have noticed a young man attending the barbershop I frequent. A tall and well-dressed adolescent who bared some resemblance to my barber, he initially started off with the scut work: sweeping the floor, greeting the customers, and watching. Always watching intently as my… Great read.

4:50AM in studio:
Learning to do wheelies with a mountain bike. Ran out of skittles. Contemplating 2 hours of sleep. Dying for akicon.

When you want to go back to hall to sleep, but you just got this brilliant-at-the-moment idea you JUST have to sort out. No wonder I end up sleeping over in studio most of the time…

Think I’ve found (I’ve learnt never to be too hopeful after being bitten too many times) what I’m looking for, it’s been so long, I’m worried that I might have forgotten...

Resolutions
Because the new year always needs them.  Be comfortable in your own skin. Why change who you are? (Cue song by Audioslave)  As the pastor was saying today: “… if you’re a workaholic, there is a time to rest…” My unintentionally uncomfortable, awkward chuckle and my friend’s cheeky grin says I need to take a break once in a while. Running is now part of...

Treehouses
I guess a last post before the beginning of a new year. This one was from the trip to Malaysia to build treehouses. I’ll probably let most of the pictures do the talking. Snoozing while we were taking measurements of the old house. Strange if you could jump into reflections, no? Purely ornamental. They don’t eat these chickens And I’ve never seen chickens looking...

Wait.
One of my church friends posted this poem up on our Whatsapp group a couple of days ago, something I took note of and kept it as a permanent note on my phone. Just thought that I’d share it again out here today, seeing how it’s been a good reminder for the times you feel that God isn’t around and about why we may ask but not receive. Wait by Russell Kelfer Desperately,...

Nov/Dec
Finally about almost 2 weeks into the semester break and I finally get the time to update something on here. I’d usually like to let the pictures do the talking but that would be just plain lazy. Aside from a architecture, Semester One has been full of up and downs. Haven’t been taking much photos as well. I think I kinda need to get back to that habit of bringing my camera everywhere...

Meanwhile in studio...
Denial is: When you discredit a photo taken because it doesn’t match what your drawn plans show. Because you remembered clearly that the step wasn’t there. You could have sworn it wasn’t there. Or because the photographer could have possibly had time to photoshop a step away. Or maybe aliens. Whatever. I still believe the step wasn’t there because my drawn plans says so.

Meanwhile in studio... It's hard to doubt someone...
Studiomate: Hey Brian! My Jap quite zai right? *Shows a paper with writing in Jap*
Me: What does it mean? (I am taking conversational Jap, but I still can't really read much)
Studiomate: "Please do not do these things on the train". Every page of my sketchbook has a theme; this one is about the stupid things people do on the train. Sleep, eat, makeout, that kind of stuff.
Me: Your kind of stuff that is. *Chuckles and goes back to work*
Me: *Pauses and looks up* Wait, when did you learn how to write Jap?
Studiomate: Oh I learnt from watching porn. Yup.
Me: Oh. Kay.
