Anyway a quick update of whatever I’m working on at the moment. This one is based off the book Norwegian Wood by Murakami. It takes inspiration from the scene in the book when Midori tells Watanabe about herself over lunch, where she reveals her quirks and insecurities, and the fire which breaks out in the neighbourhood which leads to a kiss between the two of them. If I had the chance to make a poster out of the book, this is what you would have seen.Sadly, due to terrible foresight, I did the sketch out on normal sketching paper instead of watercolour paper, so this illustration would probably be a digital piece. At the moment, I don’t think I’m productive enough to afford the time to transfer the whole thing over on watercolour paper (The perspective of the buildings due to the angle was the most annoying thing to plot out, seriously), but maybe next time!
Hopefully I can finish this up before uni starts, or else I got a feeling that it might end up sitting around my desk for a really long time. Which isn’t really a lot of time since uni will start in about a month’s time and orientation camps start just about next week. I’m rather nervous about starting school, but at the same time petty pumped as well. Mostly worried that architecture might turn out, as unlikely as everyone tells me, into something which I don’t particularly enjoy - but then again, it could be just me and my insecurities.

Autumn’s An Aviator. Outlines done in a dip pen and acrylic ink and the colours in Uni-ball gel pens.Sadly, my scanner does no justice to the original drawing. But here are the close ups of the drawing! (I realised that her head is a little off but it’s okay!)

One think which definitely turned out right would be the eyes and the goggles. Happy accidents, considering how I didn’t expect the creased leather texture to turn out so well.

Probably shouldn’t have coloured in the scarf as well, but tell me what you think!
After a pretty long break from proper drawing, I’d say this is great progress. Nothing beats physical ink on paper.

Now we’re going somewhere.
If my foray with acrylic inks fail, this is going digital. Which I hope it won’t actually.

Finally something after not drawing for so long, but this feels so… substandard somehow. Balls. Comments appreciated! Maybe for now I should let it rest on the back-burner and start something new.

My stuff is now on society6! So if you like it, you could buy it as a print (Which treats me to coffee)!

Ember & Warmth (Help me out once again!)

Ember & Warmth

(Due to my zealousness and sometimes do-first-think-later attitude, here is it again, because being the blur person I am, I promoted it without realising that it would take 1 to 2 business days to approve for voting >< In my case, it’s always do it once and an idiot for the moment; never, and an idiot forever ^^

Man, do I love positive reinforcement.)

Here’s the link! Ember & Warmth

Well here it is! This took forever thanks to my blunder of deleting the outline layer and a slight perfectionist streak on my part, but at least it’s done! Thanks to Lukas for helping me out with the Illustrator Live Trace problems and helping to find a way around it, really saved a lot of frustration. Anyway, to anyone out there, be a kind soul and give me a hand here by helping to vote this design.

Thanks you (:

Anyway while walking to driving lessons Thursday and passing the circuit area, I heard some instructor shouting like a madman and so I took a long glance to my right to see who on earth it was. However I took too long a glance and walked right into a pole, following which I just took a step back and kept walking like nothing happened. Like a baus. The Indian man next to me stunned for a moment but I kinda just turned to him and grinned.

I think I must have have knocked my head pretty darn hard.

I swear I wasn’t looking at girls.

Well I’m satisfied with this one.
Okay maybe not. Somehow I never seem to view any of my works ever completed. There always seems to be this law of diminishing returns which happens as I work; at one point it would be amazing, but I just keep working on it till it starts to degrade in quality.
BUT ANYWAY. Feel free to comment, I’m gonna send this into Threadless soon. Its always good to have another pair of eyes to see what I don’t see.

Turning out pretty good! Though drawing on a tablet seems a lot different from drawing on real paper. I miss the physical feel of it all.

Editing all the scan errors is seriously no joke. I’m starting to see white streaks in my eyes when I look around @_@

Done. Well to a certain extent. Left with adding some depth to the lines and colouring it in digitally or manually. This is probably one of the most detailed and tiring pictures I’ve done in a while, but it was fun nonetheless!
Gonna submit this to Threadless when I’m done so if you like it, watch this space!

Something good is coming out of this. Totally worth the 4 hours in Starbucks and the pretty shitty black sesame green tea frappe. ALWAYS stick to your usual drug.

Fruits of yesterday night’s fun.
(The coffee is making my stomach weird though)
I kinda regret not taking a overall photo of the MacDonald’s table we claimed for our own. Haha.

Planning pages in the sketchbook for the piece Beauty In Living. The poster in the bus in the painting was quite inspired by old art deco posters and Bioshock. Haha yeah.
